What a school thinks about its library is a measure of what it feels about education.~ Harold Howe

Lexile Levels and Your Reader

A Lexile measure indicates the reading level of a child or a book and is represented as a number followed by an “L” for example, (650L).   A child’s Lexile measure can be found on ISAT score reports for students in grades 3-8, and on many standardized test score reports.  Check out this site: LEXILE

Our Library Mission Statement

By means of the school library media program, the mission of the Sam Chellino Media Center is to fulfill its essential role in the educational process:  Aiding students in reaching their learning potential.   We strive to create a student-centered library media center which provides a safe, nurturing environment where students and staff can successfully seek information and ideas for their educational, informational and recreational needs.  The library seeks to provide the necessary print and non-print materials that support the curriculum, enhance the Common Core State Standard Initiatives, and foster an appreciation and understanding of various forms of literature.

Further, the Media Center seeks to ensure that our students, as they become lifelong readers and learners, acquire the essential information literacy skills needed to lead successful and meaningful lives.
