With the development of the State RtI plan, Richland is implementing REI classes every day. REI is a class that will eliminate Study Hall this year. REI is an acronym for Reinforce/Enrich through Intervention. This enables teachers to have students pulled out of this period to meet their particular needs. Teachers will cut homework up to 40% as they work with the students during REI periods. You can learn more about the plans for Illinois schools at http://www.nasponline.org/resources/factsheets/rtiprimer.aspx. |

Your child’s ParentConnect password can be used to check a student’s progress at anytime. Discipline points, absences, tardiness and other information are also available at just a click of the mouse. Remember; keep your password in a secure location! Contact the office at 815/744-6166 Ext. 2601 if you did not receive one.
DRESS CODE REMINDER: Parents, discipline points are given to students who violate Richland’s dress code. Remember, pants should fit at the waist and should not sag or bag. Pants and jeans should not be torn or ripped. Pajama pants are not allowed in school, they are for sleepwear. Girls blouses, shirts and skirts must cover them as described in the handbook. Your cooperation as parents is much appreciated.
The STUDENT TELEPHONE IN THE JUNIOR HIGH OFFICE is for emergency use ONLY. Forgotten homework, lunches, sports uniforms, etc. are NOT considered emergencies. Please make sure your son or daughter plans for their day before they leave the house. |

OUR HOMEWORK HOTLINE CAN HELP YOU AND YOUR STUDENT. This is a great opportunity for parents to check to see what’s being assigned by teachers. Students can use the hotline to keep their schoolwork up-to-date. To get connected simply dial the school (815/744-6166) and follow the prompts. It’s a terrific way to keep organized and make learning a top priority.

As stated in the Student Handbook, school ID’s are REQUIRED to receive hot lunches. Students will be issued discipline points for every 3rd time they come to the cafeteria without their ID. ID’s are also needed for library materials and school functions. Parents, please be sure your son/daughter knows where their ID is and remind them every day to bring it to school! |

The Parent/Student Handbook is in the front of the junior high planner. Please continue to review the Handbook with your son or daughter throughout the school year. Take time to talk to your Junior High Student about discipline points and their part in behaving responsibly. |

Here is a review of the drop-off and pick-up procedures. All vehicles should ENTER through the east parking lot entrance that is closest to the flag pole. Then the cars will proceed to the front of the Junior High Building and drop off your student(s). Vehicles should then circle around the parking lot and EXIT from the same entrance.
- Cars should NOT park in the fire lane. It must remain clear.
- After dropping off your student(s), remember to keep traffic flowing. Stopped cars create extremely hazardous conditions to all students.
- DO NOT block other cars. Remember to be courteous to other parents/drivers.
CARS are NOT allowed in the bus area. This creates a dangerous situation for drivers and students. |

Anytime your child is not in school, please call the attendance line at 744-6166 ext. 105 between 7:30 AM and 9:00 AM to report the absence and remember to include the reason why. Children arriving late will be counted as excused ONLY if a parent has called them into the school, walked them in and signed them into the “Late Arrival Book”, or comes to school with a doctor’s note.
STUDENTS WHO ARE TARDY are marked unexcused unless an adult comes into the office and signs the Late Arrival Register in the office. Please keep in mind that every time a student is late, they are missing valuable class time. Attendance, events of the day and homework are taken care of during the early part of each day. Missed class time means missed learning time. |
