Thank you for keeping our students safe & healthy!

MEDICATIONS AT SCHOOL

All student medications at school must have a Richland District Medication Authorization Form completed by the doctor & parent at the start of each school year.  Medications must be kept in the nurses office with the exception of Inhalers & EPIPENS if an Authorization Form is on File.  Authorization Forms may be obtained on our district website as well as the school office.

TREATS AT SCHOOL

Students may not bring edible classroom treats to school until all Emergency Information Sheets are received & reviewed. This includes take home treats as well.   Once all emergency sheets have been reviewed, parents will be notified on our district website at www.d88a.org in the Nurses section.

Once the list is complete we ask that you contact your child’s teacher before sending any class treats. This is necessary as many students have food allergies that may cause a severe, life-threatening reaction.

EXTRACURRICULAR SPORTS PHYSICALS for Grade 7 & 8

Sports physicals must be current and on file with the nurse before trying out for any sports.    All sports physicals  must be completed on the new “IESA IHSA Sports Physical Form” or a “School Physical Form” to be valid and can be used for 1 year after the date of exam.

Illnesses at School PDF Print
Written by Mrs. Sakalas
Sunday, 06 September 2009 15:02

In an effort to decrease the amount of illness at school, your child must stay home when they are sick under the guidelines of the school handbook. So that we can monitor communicable conditions at school we ask that you notify us of the specific reason your child will not be in absent ie. Fever, Cough, Asthma, Flu, Vomiting, Injury, etc.

We ask that parents speak with their children about the importance of practicing good hygiene practices. Take these every day steps to protect your health:

  • COVER YOUR COUGH! Cough and/or Sneeze into your shoulder or arm (instead of into your hand) to help contain germs. If you do cough into your hands, wash them or use hand sanitizer.
  • Wash your hands with soap and water or clean with alcohol based hand sanitizers. Always wash your hands after using the bathroom and before eating.
  • Keep your hands away form your face. Avoid touching your eyes, nose, or mouth as this is a common way to spread germs.
  • Eat a nutritious diet and get plenty of rest.
  • If you are sick with a FLU like illness, stay home for at least 24 hours until your fever is below 100 without the use of fever reducing medicine.

We recommend that you consult with your child’s physician or the Will County Health Department regarding vaccination against the influenza virus.

Students must be fever free (Below 100) for 24 hours without the use of fever reducing medications such as Tylenol or Motrin before returning to school. These are the same school requirements as for any type of Communicable illnesses. Please refer to your Student Handbook or our district website for other guidelines for illness.

Thanks so much for helping the students and staff at Richland stay healthy!
